King Robert Baratheon is dead, and the lands of Westeros are preparing for battle...
What's the game about?Three to six players take on the role of the great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and begin their struggle for control of the Iron Throne, using both diplomacy and military might. The game is based on the best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. R. Martin.Game of Thrones offers a true epic scope, and to win, mere military might may not be enough.YouWill you gain power by force, or will you use subterfuge and flattery on your way to the Throne, or perhaps you will choose to bring the population to your side? Using strategic planning, masterful diplomacy, and skillful use of available cards, spread your influence throughout Westeros!
PreparationAt the beginning of the game, each player receives an army, which includes infantry, knights, siege weapons and ships, as well as a deck of their House cards, which are used as leaders in battles against the opposing House. The game consists of 10 rounds, and the player with the most lands with castles or fortresses wins.
The Westeros phaseEach round in the game consists of three phases: the Westeros Phase, the Planning Phase, and the Action Phase. The Westeros Phase represents the various events and daily activities in Westeros. There are three different Westeros decks, and each refers to a different global action, potentially affecting all players.
The Envisioning PhaseThe Intentions phase is the most important: You secretly issue orders to all your units, placing one command token face down on each controlled area that contains at least one unit (knight, infantryman, ship or siege vehicle). This part of the game places a special emphasis on diplomacy and deduction - can your ally be trusted? Will you betray him or her yourself and send him or her to the siege ship?Players can make promises to each other (in aid or truce, for example), but these promises are never a guarantee!
Action PhaseDuring the Action Phase, orders given are revealed and the battle begins! When armies clash, players secretly choose one of their House cards to add power to the battle. Finally, Houses can pool their power in areas they control to use this in the future, such as to repel a Wildling attack!
Hurry up and dive into the incredible world of Westeros - full of intrigue and striving for one goal - the Iron Throne!
